Palm Beach Post – BOCA RATON — Federal agents descended on a white stucco home a block from Boca’s Old Floresta historic district in October 2007, seizing a computer belonging to Michelle Braun.

Prosecutors say the 31-year-old mother of two ran an international escort service that matched porn stars and centerfolds with men who could afford to pay up to $50,000 a night.

Braun was charged in March with money laundering and transporting a woman from California’s Orange County to New York City for the purposes of prostitution. In the weeks ahead, she is expected to accept a plea deal that requires her cooperation with IRS and FBI investigators.

The deal includes five years of probation – including six months of house arrest – and a $30,000 fine.

Braun, who split her time between Boca Raton and Southern California, made at least $8.5 million running two escort services – Bella Models and Nici’s Girls. Before the site was taken down last year, Bella Models advertised the most beautiful women from Los Angeles, Miami, London, New York and Dubai, United Arab Emirates, including hundreds of centerfolds from men’s magazines including Playboy, Penthouse, Maxim and FHM.

CNET – CoolIris for iPhone has just received a hot update…and we do mean hot. New on the list of features is the capability to turn Google’s SafeSearch on or off, which according to the company was one of the most requested features. The app remembers your preferences between sessions, giving you a wider gamut of results that can be, well, NSFW.

Why is this so important? If you’re familiar with Apple’s app store reviews process and guidelines you’ll know the company has been rather stringent. So much so, it won’t even let you view the personals section or naughty words in Craigslist apps. With the right search terms, the new version of this application can become a quick way to get at adult content. If that’s what you’re going for, that is.

XBIZ.com – LOS ANGELES — eHarmony.com says it has a “scientifically proven system” to match its customers with appropriate partners but, according to a lawsuit, it has no such system.

The suit, filed at U.S. District Court in Los Angeles on Friday, seeks class-action status and alleges that because eHarmony has no matchmatching system, consumers are oftentimes hooked up with scam artists.

Plaintiffs Lynda Kelly of Northern California and Miranda Soegi of Los Angeles said they both were duped by the online-matchmaking company because “rather than using a rigorous matching system and other procedures that ‘make sure only sincere singles seeking long-term relationships are matched,’ eHarmony did not employ any meaningful measures.”

Kelly, the suit noted, was hooked up with a scam artist from somewhere in the African continent whose only intent was to steal money.

A one-month subscription to eHarmony costs about $60, but longer subscriptions are cheaper.

The federal suit, which seeks $5 million in damages, claims Pasadena, Calif.-based eHarmony’s advertising is misleading and the company is in violation of California’s Unfair Business Act…

XBIZ.com – LOS ANGELES — Kevin Cammarata’s $40 million lawsuit against operators of RedTube may have legs.

The online adult entrepreneur, who is founder of numerous websites and affiliate programs, including TeenRevenue, claims in a suit filed last month that streaming video site RedTube has unlawfully offered free movies as loss leaders in an attempt to crush the competition.

In his antitrust suit, Cammarata is seeking to have RedTube shut down.

“Now that consumers have the ability to watch high-quality adult videos for free on RedTube.com, fewer are making the choice to pay other adult website proprietors for the same or similar content,” the suit said.

Cammarata’s attorney, Jay Spillane, told XBIZ that because of these loss leaders streamed over RedTube, Cammarata has faced a substantial loss of customers and revenue, leading him to sell his business at an unfavorable price.

“Tube sites have done injury to the business,” Spillane said. “We feel RedTube and other sites like them are crowding out competition when it comes to the online adult business.”

RedTube is currently No. 45 on the Alexa traffic ranking scale but has cloaked itself in obscurity, according to Spillane….

Porndemic starts out with a visit to Beverly Hills, Calif., where researchers meet with LFP founder Larry Flynt, who says that with the rise of the Internet he is able to reach more than six times the number of porn consumers.

The documentary continues to Porn Valley, formally known as Los Angeles’ San Fernando Valley, to meet up with website entrepreneurs who own DungeonCorp.com.

Later, researchers chat it up with sex-tape broker and online adult marketer Kevin Blatt.

Canadian Broadcasting Corp. videographers also meet with PAK Group co-founder Jason Tucker, who discusses how the online adult industry created what is today the standard for mainstream online business models.

They meet with the operator of RedLightCenter, Brian Schuster, and Frederick Lane, author of “Obscene Profits.” Lane, in his book, chronicles the entrepreneurs of pornography in the cyber age.

But “Porndemic” also examines a dark side of the business — consumers who claim they are addicted to porn, including teenage cellphone users and an oil executive from Western Canada, who now belongs to Sex Addicts Anonymous.

“Porndemic” airs Thursday, April 2, at 9 p.m., on CBC-TV.
